Karen Núñez has been working on human mobility issues since 2010 and has been with the National Commission for the Support of Returned Migrants with Physical Disabilities (CONAMIREDIS) since 2012. She is co-founder of the Honduran Network of Women Survivors of Forced Migration. She is the main technical and operational point of reference on issues related to access to physical and mental health of returned migrants with physical disabilities. CONAMIREDIS is an organization of and for people who, because of the migratory route, return to the country with a physical disability (amputations, spinal cord/brain injuries, chronic illnesses), implements a rights-based approach, and therefore promotes actions of coordination, vindication and defense of human rights. Karen works towards greater participation of women and has helped establish regional commissions to defend the rights of migrant women with disabilities.
