Mary Gitahi

Program Officer at the Resourcing Refugee Leadership Initiative (RRLI) (Kenya/Uganda)

Mary Gitahi is a refugee and community leader from Kenya and program officer at the Resourcing Refugee Leadership Initiative (RRLI). She has over 5 years of experience in community development and refugee advocacy. Her expertise spans research, program management, and community engagement, with experience as lead researcher in Uganda for the University of Oxford and Carleton University’s study on the impact of refugee-led organisations in East Africa. Mary has also worked with Alight Uganda as country lead for the Kuja Kuja program, promoting refugee inclusion in program design through community feedback. She has led a digital literacy initiative for women at the Community Technology Access Center in Nakivale Refugee Settlement. Additionally, she volunteers as an advisor to refugee-led organisations in East Africa, serves as a steering committee member of the Just, Tech, and Migration community, and chairs the advisory board of the Every Shelter Uganda Program.
