Día Mundial del Refugiado: Un Grito Global por la Dignidad y los Derechos
Cada 20 de junio, el mundo conmemora el Día Mundial de la persona Refugiada, una fecha que nos exige mucho más que palabras bonitas: nos interpela a actuar frente a una crisis de derechos humanos que se profundiza día a día. Son más de 100 millones las personas desplazadas forzadamente en el planeta, de acuerdo con datos de ACNUR. Detrás de cada cifra hay rostros, hay historias truncadas por guerras, persecuciones, violencias estructurales y desastres climáticos. Pero también hay resistencia, coraje y una profunda humanidad.
Hoy, sin embargo, los principios más básicos del derecho internacional están bajo ataque. En Estados Unidos, epicentro de múltiples luchas por la justicia, miles de personas migrantes y refugiadas protestan contra políticas que criminalizan su existencia, restringen sus derechos y las exponen a detenciones arbitrarias y deportaciones masivas. En Nicaragua y Venezuela, los regímenes autoritarios han llegado al extremo de expulsar a ACNUR, cerrando espacios de protección internacional y dejando a miles de personas refugiadas y solicitantes de asilo aún más vulnerables.
En este contexto, el Día Mundial de la persona Refugiada no puede ser solo un acto simbólico. Es un llamado urgente a la empatía, a la acción y a la responsabilidad compartida. No hay excusas para la indiferencia. Ser refugiada no es un delito ni una elección: es el resultado de violencias que los Estados y las sociedades tienen la obligación moral y legal de erradicar.
Como Red de Acción, alzamos nuestra voz colectiva con firmeza y claridad:
- Rechazamos las políticas migratorias inhumanas que violan derechos fundamentales.
- Condenamos los ataques a organismos internacionales que protegen a personas desplazadas.
- Exigimos rutas seguras, acceso a justicia, acogida digna para las personas refugiadas.
- De igual manera, exigimos la participación significativa, real y efectiva de las personas desplazadas a la fuerza y refugiadas.
Hoy reafirmamos nuestro compromiso de seguir construyendo comunidades solidarias, redes de cuidado y espacios donde todas las personas puedan vivir sin miedo. La solidaridad no es caridad, es justicia. Porque refugiar no es solo ofrecer un techo: es abrir la puerta a una vida con dignidad.
A quienes resisten desde el exilio, a quienes cruzan fronteras con la esperanza intacta, a quienes acompañan y luchan por un mundo sin muros: este día es suyo. Y también es nuestro deber estar a la altura.

World Refugee Day 2025: A Global Cry for Dignity and Rights
Every June 20th, the world commemorates World Refugee Day, a day that demands much more than fine words: it challenges us to act in the face of a human rights crisis that deepens every day. More than 100 million people are forcibly displaced across the planet, according to UNHCR data. Behind every number are faces, stories cut short by wars, persecution, structural violence, and climate disasters. But there is also resilience, courage, and profound humanity.
Today, however, the most basic principles of international law are under attack. In the United States, the epicenter of multiple struggles for justice, thousands of migrants and refugees are protesting against policies that criminalize their existence, restrict their rights, and expose them to arbitrary detentions and mass deportations. In Nicaragua and Venezuela, authoritarian regimes have gone so far as to expel UNHCR, closing spaces for international protection and leaving thousands of refugees and asylum seekers even more vulnerable.
In this context, World Refugee Day cannot be merely a symbolic act. It is an urgent call for empathy, action, and shared responsibility. There are no excuses for indifference. Being a refugee is not a crime or a choice: it is the result of violence that States and societies have a moral and legal obligation to eradicate.
As the Action Network on Forced Displacement, we raise our collective voices firmly and clearly:
- We reject inhumane migration policies that violate fundamental rights.
- We condemn attacks on international organizations that protect displaced persons.
- We demand safe routes, access to justice, and a dignified welcome for refugees for all.
- Likewise, we demand the meaningful, real, and effective participation of forcibly displaced people and refugees.
Today we reaffirm our commitment to continue building communities of solidarity, networks of care, and spaces where all people can live without fear. Solidarity is not charity, it is justice. Because providing refuge is not just offering a roof over your head: it is opening the door to a life of dignity.
To those who resist from exile to those who cross borders with their hope intact, to those who accompany and fight for a world without walls: this day is yours. And it is also our duty to rise to the occasion.
