Dr. Renee Dixson

Dr. Renee Dixson (they/them) is a human rights advocate, researcher, and policy expert focused on LGBTIQA+ forced displacement. They are the co-founder and Executive Director of the Forcibly Displaced People Network (FDPN), the first organization in Australia led by and for LGBTIQA+ forcibly displaced individuals. Renee has played a key role in changing the language and policy approach to LGBTIQA+ displacement in Australia and has led high-level advocacy for targeted protection and supports for LGBTIQA+ displaced communities. They founded the Queer Displacements Conference, the first and only conference in Asia and the Pacific dedicated to these issues. During the war in Ukraine, Renee facilitated evacuations of LGBTIQA+ individuals from occupied territories. Renee also serves on multiple national and international advisory boards, shaping policy and inclusion efforts.
