Taban Shoresh is the founder and CEO of the Lotus Flower – an organization founded in 2016 that supports women and girl conflict survivors in Kurdistan (northern Iraq) through livelihoods and skills training, educational classes, MHPSS and awareness around women’s rights and gender-based violence. After having been imprisoned in her home country Iraq at age four, Taban and her family were flown to safety in the UK by Amnesty International. In 2014, she returned to Iraq as an aid worker. To date, Taban has made numerous media contributions on platforms such as the Guardian, BBC News, Al Jazeera, and CNN. She is also a One Young World ambassador and has spoken at various summits – alongside Sir Bob Geldof and the late Kofi Annan.
